Turning Moments into Momentum: Cambium Learning’s 2024 Impact Report
This month, during Teacher Appreciation Week, we launched our third annual Cambium Impact Report, Turning Moments into Momentum, highlighting our collective impact for the 2024 calendar year. The Report showcases how our commitment to Cambium’s purpose and smart innovation helps education leaders respond to challenges with agility and confidence, turning individual breakthroughs into systemic advancement.
At Cambium, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and shape their future, and the best way to do that is through education. At the same time, we know there are many challenges that students, educators, and families face within the K-12 education community, with no one-size-fits-all solution. For example:
- The average student in 2024 needed an equivalent of 4.8 additional months of schooling to catch up in reading and 4.4 months in math.
- 84% of teachers say they lack sufficient time for core instructional tasks, and 70% report their schools are understaffed.
- US states and K-12 districts face funding challenges and complexity as ESSER funds expire.
These challenges underscore the important work we do at Cambium—when high-quality education is a reality for everyone, it transforms not just test scores, but lives, opening doors of opportunity for every student, strengthening our communities, and creating a more promising future for us all.
This Report highlights the work we’ve done over the last year to fuel positive change and recognizes the progress we’ve made within the Cambium community. Paired with human stories and deeper context, metrics provide important insight into how we’re delivering greater combined impact.
- Cambium now serves 96% of U.S. school districts and more than 170 countries, totaling nearly 29M students, 14.3M of whom identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or people of color (BIPOC).
- Cambium served 58% of the K-12 student population in the U.S. in 2024.
- Cambium provided educational resources to 3M teachers, accounting for 65% of all K-12 teachers in the U.S. in 2024.
- Cambium employees logged more than 7,200 volunteer hours in 2024, an increase of 14% from 2023, to help support local communities.
In classrooms and homes around the world, learning happens in moments. Many of these moments come from Cambium’s family of brands, which have continued to grow their impact to accelerate momentum and improve outcomes for the communities Cambium serves. For example, in 2024:
- Lexia supported 13% more students and 26% more teachers than in 2023.
- Time4Learning served 228K students who sought a home-based option for learning.
- 73% of students showed high growth in math skills by using ExploreLearning’s Reflex and Frax solutions.
- Cambium Assessment administered 18% more online tests than last year.
- Learning A-Z programs were listed at the state level in 10 states.
This Report also provides updates on our progress as a workplace. As we strive to live our purpose internally, it’s important to reflect and consider how we help one another feel seen, valued and supported. These annual reviews allow us to measure our growth and chart a path forward as we cultivate an inclusive culture that allows all of us to feel we belong. In 2024:
- 50% of Cambium’s executive team are women.
- 22% of employees in leadership positions (VP or SVP) identify as BIPOC.
- 62% of employees are women—more than double the national tech industry average.
- 99% of employees value our Remote First approach, and 98% of employees work remotely.
In tandem with this Report, Cambium also released its new “This is Cambium” brand anthem video, showcasing the impact Cambium delivers through every aspect of its organization.
The insights captured in this Report help inform our work moving forward, ensuring we maintain a tenacious focus on our purpose of helping students and teachers feel seen, valued and supported. Accordingly, the impact recognized in the Report is the result of an enormous collective effort and deep commitment on the part of the Cambium employee community. I am immensely proud of the outcomes we create and the work we do together with our entire Cambium community; I’m deeply grateful to our students, teachers, administrators, families, employees, partners and investors. Together, we build the foundation for a more hopeful tomorrow.
